Is It Too Late To Start A Blog?

Blogging is soo 2008, right? Most of us think of blogging as something people used to do. Blogging came long before MySpace, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. A blogger was really the first form of influencer or content creator which means it’s been around for a long time, but that DOESN’T mean that it is too late to start a blog and be successful.

Why it’s not too late.

Blogs are the best platforms to have if you want to make money online. Yes, even if you are just now starting, and here is why.

Evergreen

Blogs don’t suffer from the curse of the internet: algorithms.

This means content on blogs never goes away or gets hidden from your audience. Your blog posts won’t stop showing up on people’s feeds a few hours after they are posted, like the content you post on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.

For this reason, brands will always value bloggers because the content will stay up and visible for much longer than an Instagram story. This means a blog is a more powerful tool than social media alone when it comes to building an income online.

It’s reported that next year brands are expected to spend right around 15,000,000,000 (yes, billion) on influencer marketing. This means there is still certainly money out there for you or any new blogger to make.

Pinterest

Pinterest is something we are all so used to at this point that we almost think of it as a social media platform.

However, Pinterest is truly more like a search engine for blog posts. Every recipe you click on is linked to a blog post. Every DIY you click on is linking to a blog post. Many of even the photos on Pinterest are linked to blog posts with links to the products in the photo.

As long as there is Pinterest, there will be bloggers, and Pinterest is still growing, which means there has never been a better time to be a blogger. Which certainly means it isn’t too late to get started.

Pinterest reported 3,000,000 new American and Canadian users this year. Which means more eyes for your potential content.

Connection

Another reason blogs won’t be going out anytime soon is that blogs are so powerful when it comes to affiliate marketing, product marketing, and customer development.

As I mentioned before, most other forms of content on the internet essentially stop being effective after a few hours or days. When is the last time you read an email from 4 years ago? When is the last time you watched a TikTok from 2 years ago?

One of my blog posts that continues to be most popular is a blog post from 2018. On any other platform, that content would be done by now, but on my blog, it is still connecting with my audience all this time later.

Blog posts have the ability to stick around and continue to connect with audiences for an extended period of time which means they have way more earning potential than other forms of content for bloggers and businesses alike.

Because the content sticks around, many influencers will link to the products they mention in blog posts instead of on Like to Know It or on their stories.

Until there is another platform where the content doesn’t start being suppressed after a certain period of time, blogs will continue to grow in popularity.

What to do if you want to start.

I know it can be super hard to start something and invest your time and money into it with no promise of it being successful.

Blogging has absolutely changed my life, and I want that for you as well.

To try and help you start a blog, if that’s something you are interested in, I put together a free four-part series on how to start a blog. It walks through the whole process step-by-step. You can read the free series by clicking here.

What to do to succeed once you’ve started.

If you’ve already started a blog and you aren’t seeing the success you thought you would, stick with it. It took me a long time of feeling frustrated and confused before all the dominos finally fell into place, and my blog started seeing the success I had always hoped for.

I do want to help you feel the least frustrated you possibly can be during this journey, though, so I wanted to share my free 6-day course on starting a blog with you. Maybe it will give you ideas or point out some of the things you aren’t doing that might make a difference.

You can read that course for free here.

It is not too late, and I’m not special.

I know it’s super hard to jump into something with no guarantee, as I said, and it’s even harder to keep pushing when you aren’t seeing the results you want. However, the only way to have your dream blog and income from home is by sticking with it even when it’s hard.

Just keep moving forward. I promise I’m not special, I’m not a tech genius, I’m not super smart, I got here just because I kept trying. You can do the same thing.

I believe in you. I’m rooting for you.

Let’s make this next year the best one yet.
