How to make money blogging from the start

How to make money blogging as a beginner. How to make money blogging when you first start. Here is how I started making money my first month blogging. #bloggingtips #blogging #workfromhome

I am one of the lucky ones! I started blogging in May 2016 and by February 2017 I was able to quit my comfortable job to blog full-time.

One of the questions I get the most is “how can I start a profitable blog now in 2019?” Making money blogging is a dream job. But how the heck are you suppose to get started when you have no idea what your doing?

So I decided to write a whole post about how you can start and have a profitable blog in 2019.

Let's jump into how to make money blogging from the start.

>> JUST A HEADS UP: Today is the last day to enroll in 30 Days to Blog Success (don’t worry you get lifetime access after you enroll) my course that teaches how to start a blog, and my exact formula I use to make $10,000 per month blogging and I decided to offer 50% off since it’s the last day to enroll!

A few times in this post I mention it because, I am super passionate about it and I want to help people not be confused like I was when I started my blog. If you want to start the course before the 50% off expires and enrollment closes the code for 50% off is: LASTDAY50 and it makes the course only $25 you can click here to learn more.

If you don’t already blog here is my first tip:

Start a blog NOW while it’s cold outside!

The winter is the perfect time to start a blog because the amount of people reading blogs goes up so much this time of year after kiddos go back to school, and the weather outside isn’t as nice as the summer so it is much easier to get traffic, and start making money.

I know starting a blog can be overwhelming,

How are you suppose to know how to design your blog and get traffic, and monetize it?

I know so many people want to start making money blogging, so I created a completely free email course that will teach you how to start a profitable blog from nothing with no experience.

Please take it if you don’t already have a blog (or if you do already have a blog and want the advice) because I truly think it can help you start a money making blog. Here is a more detailed guide of what we go over in it!

  • Day 1: How to choose a name, and blog topics.

  • Day 2: How to start a blog & install the design of your choice.

  • Day 3: Planning out your content.

  • Day 4: Monetizing your website as a beginner.

  • Day 5: Increasing your website's traffic to make more money.

  • Day 6: Wrap up & Guide to follow for the future to maximize profit.

In order to make money blogging from the start here is what you should do:

 1. Set Goals From The Start

In order to make money blogging from the start you have to have a goal because it allows you to see what your working for.

For me I always pick the goal of making enough for a specific vacation, or making enough to pay a bill, or saving enough to buy something I’ve been wanting.

Then once I reach the goal of making that amount of money I pick a new goal.

Then I created social media goals in order to help me get closer to my goal of earning money. Here are my goals when I started and now.

My first month blogging goals were:

  • Earn: $250/mo (enough for groceries)

  • Twitter Followers: 500

  • Pinterest Followers: 1000

  • (I didn't plan to focus on Facebook and Instagram followers)

  • Facebook Page Likes: 70

  • Instagram Followers: 50

12 months later and now my goals look much more like this:

  • Earn: $10,000/mo (enough for all expenses & one trip per month)

  • Schedule 60+ pins a day (using Tailwind)

  • Write 2 Monthly Newsletters

  • Keep active in my Facebook Group

  • Create a new email opt-in every month

  • Grow my Pinterest Following 500 a month.

Once you set goals It is important to remember them daily so you have the motivation to start and keep blogging.

Also when you achieve your goals it is important to continue to update them, for me this motivates me to keep going.

2. Try Growing On A Few Social Media Websites

When you are trying to make money blogging in the start you need to get traffic to your website. The best way to get traffic to your website is using other social media websites.

The key here is do not try and grow on too many social media platforms rat once.

I made this mistake when I first started, and it is time I will never get back. Don’t be like me and waste time.

I tried to start a Google+, Facebook Profile, Facebook Page, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and other social medias for my blog but I quickly realized there is no way I could create blog posts, and make posts on all those social medias.

Here are the two things you should focus on as a blogger

  • Pinterest

  • Facebook

  • Maybe Instagram (if your blog has a lot of images)

(you can click here to learn how I met my goal and got a lot of traffic from Pinterest).

Pinterest is the only reason I make money, and get traffic to my blog. If you are new to blogging and want to make money blogging there are a few things that I recommend

Tailwind: Tailwind is a Pinterest scheduler I use daily.

With Tailwind you can find new things to pin by using group boards called Tribes, or searching within Tailwind.

By using Tailwind Tribes I have increased the amount of views I get on Pinterest monthly from 40,000 to upward of 1,000,000 views a month. Tailwind is amazing and has changed my life. If you want to find out more you can sign up for a free tailwind account here.

If you want to start a profitable blog, or increase the amount of money you make blogging I want to give you another opportunity to join my FREEE 6-Day email course, that will literally teach you step by step how to start a blog, and how to monetize. Here is just a reminder of what we go over in it:

  • Day 1: How to choose a name, and blog topics.

  • Day 2: How to start a blog & install the design of your choice.

  • Day 3: Planning out your content.

  • Day 4: Monetizing your website as a beginner.

  • Day 5: Increasing your website's traffic to make more money.

  • Day 6: Wrap up & Guide to follow for the future to maximize profit.

3.  Start Affiliate Marketing

If you want to make money blogging from the start affiliate marketing is a great way to do that. Affiliate marketing gives you a way to make money without having to create a product, and set up a store.

I sucked at affiliate marketing in the beginning, because it isn’t as simple as find a product you love, share the link, and get paid.

After months of research I finally figured out a method of affiliate marketing that worked here are a few of the things I think are key.

The keys to affiliate marketing are:

  • Knowing where to put affiliate links, and that you shouldn’t have more than 1-2 per blog post.

  • Knowing where to find the best affiliate programs and how to qualify for them.

  • Knowing how to drive traffic to your content with affiliate links in it.

  • Knowing who your audience is.

    • You can’t advertise $3,000 boots when your audience is full of women who only make $20,000/year.

    • You can’t advertise Walmart products to women with Gucci taste.

  • Knowing how to target your audience with what links you use.

  • Knowing the best seasons to post certain types of affiliate links.

in 30 Days to Blog Success I teach the exact formula to how I make $5,000+ per month affiliate marketing. 30 Days to Blog Success is currently open for enrollment but closes tonight at midnight CST, and because It’s the last day to enroll I decided to offer 50% off for my readers (code: LASTDAY50).

4. Try Offering Services

So many bloggers are worth so much more than they know. If you want to make money blogging as soon as you start try offering services.

I see food bloggers all the time and wonder why they don't offer services bring in more money. In 30 Days to Blog Success I suggest that for food bloggers offer services like: online video cooking lessons, personal recipe creation, 30 minute meal cooking classes online, offering local prepared meal delivery in your area. (there are many more for all kinds of bloggers in 30 Days to Blog Success, like ideas for mama bloggers, travel bloggers, fashion bloggers, DIY bloggers, and others!).

Here are a few services I have offered over the years:

  •  Blog Auditing: where I go do a 4+ page report of someones blog and tell them exactly how they can make money with their type of blog, what they should be doing to get more traffic, what images they can post to create more shares.

  •  Social Media Auditing: Where I create a complete a 4+ page complete review of bloggers social media to tell them, when they should be posting, what content they should be sharing more, what content they should be sharing less, what social media they should focus on growing next, what they can do to wok less on their social media.

You don’t have to blog about blogging to make money, I promise!

Everyone has knowledge that someone else doesn't have and wants. The options are endless. Fashion bloggers could offer services helping their readers organize their clothes for that season, or for an event, or personal online shopping. There are so many ways to make money blogging with services.

Offering services is a great way to make money blogging from the start.

5. Use But Don't Overuse Advertisements

Advertisements are a great way to earn extra money blogging. However ads really take away from a blog when they are all over the place. I have a few ad's on my page. These ads are enough to earn me a little extra income but they don't push readers away.

You never want your main source of income to be driving people away from your website. This will only lower quality of relationships you can build with your readers.

I recommend only having 1-3 advertisements on each page of your blog.

6. Only Post Quality Content

Posting every single day will not make you money blogging especially in the beginning when you don’t have a ton of traffic. The way you make money blogging is posting good content that is full of information and is actually giving something to your readers.

I only post 1 time a week depending. I have found sometimes I don't end up posting for a couple weeks or even a month and it doesn't effect my traffic or income at all because the content I am posting is quality and offers something to my readers.

In 30 Days to Blog Success I dive deeper into how to create the perfect blog post, and blog posting schedule for making money but here are a few of the examples on how you can write good blog posts, that make people connect with your blog more:

  • Let your personality shine through, it is the only thing that sets you apart.

    • People want to know about your old jobs, your kiddos, your husband and what makes you able to create content.

  • Make sure you are always teaching.

    • Sharing a story is what is going to build a personal connection, but teaching is what is going to make people believe in your value as a blogger.

  • Believe what you are saying.

    • If you are talking about products you don’t believe in just to make a dollar people will see it in your writing. Only talk about things you believe.

If you want to know how to write the perfect blog post for making money blogging I talk about it in 30 Days to Blog Success which you can learn more about by clicking here.

7. Continue to Stay Educated About Blogging

Blogging is something that is nearly impossible to figure out all on your own, without months of research, and months of work.

You have to stay educated on blogging in order to be successful.

So many of the most successful bloggers claim that constant reading, and learning is crucial to their ability to be successful.

For me a few of my favorite ways to stay educated are:

  1. Keeping notes and looking back at them often.

  2. Reading other bloggers books / courses.

If you’re interested in blogging, and you want to know:

  • How to I affiliate market to make six-figures from my blog.

  • What to day-to-day on social media and Pinterest in order to increase your traffic and income.

  • How the heck bloggers design their websites with no experience.

  • What you need to do to start a profitable blog from nothing.

Then I highly recommend grabbing 30 Days, to Blog Success while it is open for enrollment today.

The reason I keep preaching 30 Days to Blog Success is because I have walked blogging alone and I know it is better with someone in your corner. 30 Days to Blog Success is a great resource that will teach you exactly how to start a profitable blog from nothing, and grow it into a business.

8. Start to Build an Email List

As a blogger the only audience you own is your email list.

All the people on your email list want to hear what you have to say. To make money and especially a passive income as a blogger you need to build your email list so you have someone to offer a product or service to.

Pinterest is a great way to increase traffic but it varies by season, and the type of content you post.

Facebook is a great way to build traffic but you never know when people will share your post.

Your email list will provide you regular traffic, and sales.

A great way to build your email list is to put a call to action in every one of your social media bios and offer content upgrades to people who sign up.

A call to action in your social media bio could sound something like this, "Learn how I keep 3 growing toddlers going to be regularly every night (link to sign up to your email list here).

Then you would set up an automation through your email service  (I recommend MailerLite they are free and offer automation) to send them an email with your tips after they sign up.

You are going to be more likely to have a good audience that sticks around if you stay true to yourself. Your audience is there for you not who you pretend to be.

9. STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF

I see so many bloggers post about everything under the sun even though they really want to be a fashion blogger, or they really want to be a mommy blogger.

To make money blogging you need to stay true to yourself. Talking about something you don't care about to get people to click affiliate links, or get more traffic makes your blog seem more unprofessional and boring.

Talking about something you love makes it a lot easier to be dedicated to blogging. Being dedicated to blogging makes it a lot easier to make it a career.

Don’t forget 30 Days to Blog Success enrollment ends tonight and wont be available again for a few months.
