Why Isn't Your Business More Successful?

Success is something that sometimes comes fast but it doesn’t come easy.

Working 18 hours a day, being relentless, not taking no for an answer, constantly learning, and not caring what people are going to say about me thats what made me successful.

Loving the game of creating a successful business will make you successful.

Now lets talk about why you and your business isn’t more successful.

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF YOUR BUSINESS?

Do you know the goal of your business? Sure you want to make more sales, make more money, increase traffic, increase opportunities but what is the big goal.

Are you trying to make more people see that tuna sandwiches are the very best sandwiches because you truly believe it?

Are you trying to teach mothers their real worth and how to find it?

Weather you want to make more money, or increase the number of employees of your business so you can take more time off you need to know the real goal of your business and it cannot be make more money.

Here are things it can be:

  • Increase the reach of your company in order to reach the company mission of helping more people in x,y,z.

  • Create more products in order to increase your value with your customers so that you can reach the company mission of x,y,z.

You need to have a clear goal of what you want to achieve or you are not going to be successful.

If you are running like a chicken with it’s head cut off you are never gonna reach your end destination because you can’t see where you are going.

WHY DON’T YOU THINK YOUR SUCCESSFUL?

Often people don’t think they are successful because they are comparing selling t-shirts from their basement to the success of Warren Buffett. You as one person cannot make one-billion dollars on sewing, printing, and shipping t-shirts there just isn’t enough time in a day.

Sometimes you don't think you are successful because you are looking outside your industry at success.

You need to define your own success and stop comparing yourself to people outside your industry.

If you are running a t-shirt shop from your basement go on Etsy, Instagram, and Shopify and see what other people are running other successful t-shirt companies are doing and see what their Instagram strategy is, see how many days turn around they have on shipping, see what type of shipping they offer, see how much they are charging, see how many reviews they have, see how much they are posting on Facebook.

If you are running a t-shirt company and you want to turn it into an apparel company go look at how other successful apparel companies are doing it my bet is that you will learn a thing or two.

After you do your research set your own goals they you can strive for success, give yourself a timeline, set goals, and then after the amount of time you decide you can re-evaluate your success.

ARE YOU STILL LEARNING?

The key to success in a constantly changing market is constantly learning. If you aren’t keeping up with the trends in your industry and trying to stay ahead of them you are failing.

SURE YOU MIGHT KNOW EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT ABOUT YOUR CURRENT BUSINESS, BUT DO YOU KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT THE INDUSTRY? DO YOU KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT HOW TO GROW IN THE INDUSTRY? DO YOU KNOW IF THE INDUSTRY IS STILL VIABLE?

Google is a thing that will change your life if you use it well.

You can look up anything and get a result it is nuts.

Want to know how many times, and what time of day you should be posting on Instagram if you want to get more people to your yogurt bar? Google it and you will find data.

Look at other yogurt bars on Instagram, see their engament, see how often they post, start commenting on the photos of people in your area.

If you feel like you are failing maybe you aren’t still learning enough about your industry.

Learn how to learn and your likelihood of failing goes down right away.

IS YOUR CURRENT COMPANY STILL VIABLE?

Sometimes you need to face that your company is not viable in its current state. This doesn’t mean you have failed, this means you need to change.

Sometimes emotions force us to hang on to things that are no longer viable.

I am not saying you need to close your sandwich shop, I am just saying you need to change how you do business right now.

Maybe you need to look at the Subway down the street and see what they are doing that you aren’t, and see if there is even money to be made in sandwiches.

ARE YOU WILLING TO MAKE SACRIFICES?

I know two people of the top of my head that make way less money than me, that are living way better lives.

Because Instead of taking all the money my company makes and putting it in my bank account so I can vacation in Paris I am willing to make sacrifices in the now and make investments in my company so that in the future I can have a better, bigger company.

If you feel like you aren’t successful maybe you are giving away, or taking too much out of your companies pot.

I would consider for a few months, or a year, or a few years giving up some of your lifes luxuries to invest more in the business.

But before you just "invest” in the business research, research, research, don’t just blindly invest in the business talk to someone, or do a lot of research.
